Global Warming|Global Warning

Global warming caused by the accumulation of Green house gases like carbon-dioxide and methane in the atmosphere.
This results in a rise in the earth's surface temperatures.
When fossil fuel is burnt, it releases carbon-dioxide into the atmosphere. Therefore there is an
immediate need to reduce our dependence on fossil fuel and finding efficient, new ways to
harness renewable energy from Sun, biomass, the wind and the sea.

Initially Global Warming is measured by the rising sea levels but today it has taken a more
serious turn, translating into spiraling prices, food shortages and painful starvation.

While the earlier generation of ours, with modest earnings, lived by the noble principles of
RECYCLE-REPAIR-REUSE, the present generation, with high levels of income, has brought about
high level of consumption and an equal level of garbage and pollution.

Some remedies:

At an individual level, we may not have powers to stop melting of glaciers or the shrinking
of the rain forests, yet we have the power to replace our old polluting refrigerator by a new
Eco-friendly, CFC(Chlorofluorocarbon)-free, low energy consuming one.

Change normal bulbs and switch on to CFL
(Compact Fluorescent Lamp; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_fluorescent_lamp)
lighting.

Even by choosing to stay a little uncomfortable during the summer heat, by reducing
the cooling of the air-conditioner, makes us more responsible and sensitive towards the global
problem. Of course, coping up with the summer discomfort of heat without an air-conditioner
makes us a champion-environmentally!

In this now-or-never situation we must let go the conventional and welcome the SUSTAINABLE
with open arms. Perhaps turning GREEN is the only way to go.

Some STAT:

Handmade paper is made from cotton waste collected from hosiery industries. One tonne of Recycled
Paper saves 15 laughing trees, 2500 kilowatts of energy, some 20,000 litres of precious water and
reduces 25 kgs. of air pollutants.
So, it is highly recommended to opt for Recycled Paper and make difference to the environment.

* Sri Aurobindo handmade paper mill is located in Pondicherry. If you have plans to go there, please do *NOT* miss the opportunity to visit the paper mill.

Blessed with failure

by Dr. Alok Pandey

It has been said in spiritual traditions that success is often a harder test to pass than failure. Truly, if we compare the effect that the two have upon us we can see why it is so. ....

Beauty lies in its sound, script, grammar, and systematic nature.
The study of Sanskrit creates clarity within the mind. Recitation of
Sanskrit hymns and chanting of Veda mantras is equivalent to doing
natural pranayam.

Texts by western scholars on Sanskrit:
(Ref: Introduction to Sanskrit by Thomas Egenes)
Over the past several hundred years, few western scholars have written introductory text books on
Sanskrit.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, a few introductory materials for Sanskrit were written by
